Bono the CyberCat
If you arrived on this page looking for postcards of
beautiful Cahuita, Costa Rica -- or for BonoGram postcards
-- you might be a bit disappointed, or at least surprised.
In either case, perhaps we should explain why a web site
about Costa Rica property has a
picture and movie featuring a cat.
Well, he's not really a cat - he's Bono, The
Cybercat and beginning in 1997, www.pro-bono.net
was the home of his CyberCathouse. For many years, Bono was
The Cat Who Ruled The Web. His international fan
club had tens of thousands of members, and Cathouse
& Garden, the e-zine he published with his trusted
assistant, Ms. Ali, had countless subscribers. Their
Bonogram postcards were so popular that more than 100
websites still link to this page in search of them.
But suddenly, in 2005, Bono fans who came to this web
address found only a cryptic message stating: "Bono, the
Cybercat, and Ms. Ali are on vacation. They may be
available to answer email questions, depending on surfing
conditions in Costa Rica."
Yes, Bono and Ms. Ali had discovered the wonders of Costa
Rica, finally settling in Cahuita. And they've never
left. For those of you who arrived here looking for
Bonograms, we hope to have them back someday. In the
meantime, we offer all of you a short movie featuring
Bono, cleverly disguised as a house cat, having a
Strange Encounter with a gecko named Liz (the multitude
of more peaceful geckos here in Cahuita was one of the
factors that convinced him to stay.) In case you don't
recognize it, the soundtrack to the movie is The
Toreador Song, an ode to brave bullfighters, from
the opera Carmen.
Please choose a format and picture size, and be
patient while the video starts to loads.
