Costa Rica - Unspoiled

When you think of Costa Rica, what comes to mind?

1. A tiny country blessed with stunning coast lines on both the Pacific and Caribbean, majestic mountains, active volcanoes, ethereal rain and cloud forests, exotic jungles, and an exceptional friendly population -- their universal motto and greeting is "Pura Vida", a salute to the "pure life" -- who share their land with such a wealth of animal and plant life that the statistics simply boggle the mind?

2. The next South Florida, Costa del Sol, or other once-enchanting, but now sadly overdeveloped, area where you can join countless developers and investors hoping to "make a killing" by literally killing the very natural splendor which once enticed both tourists and new residents? Or where you can live in a luxury high rise condo or walled compound, isolated from both nature and the local culture, and assured of rarely meeting anyone who looks, talks or thinks differently from you unless they are your hired servants. Where your contact with nature is limited to gazing at the ocean from your balcony, and hoping that you can hear the sound of the surf over the drone of bulldozers.

If the second description of Costa Rica appeals to you, don't bother to discover the beauty and charm of the country's Southern Caribbean region. Unlike much of the country's Pacific coast, the Southern Caribbean does not try to put nature on a leash. Instead, we revel in our breathtaking natural surroundings, welcome as neighbors a multi-culural, multi-racial blend of people . . . and try our best to live in harmony with our many neighbors from the animal kingdom.

This web site is devoted to the Southern Caribbean and particularly the village of Cahuita, located between the busy port city of Limón to the north, and the rapidly developing "party town" of Puerto Viejo to the south. Part of our mission is to persuade you to make the town your first or second home, and we are offering for sale two splendid pieces of real estate perfect for that purpose, with just reduced prices. But even if you're not interested in purchasing property, we'd like to introduce you to the town, especially since many guidebooks either virtually ignore us or give out-dated or simply false "information" about Cahuita and the rest of the Southern Caribbean.

The photograph below (like the one at the top of each page) shows the village of Cahuita as viewed from the shores of its stunning National Park: simply a small but vibrant community with a great respect for the gorgeous natural world all around it.

Village of Cahuita, viewed from its magnificent National Park

Here, from Google Earth, is another spectacular view of Cahuita and the huge National Park, which juts out (and down) into the sea. The small village can barely be seen behind the yellow markers which show the location of the two properties offered for sale . . . a very short stroll to the Park entrance or the village center. One even comes ready to build immediately, with a building permit and custom architectural plans for a 140 m2 (1507 sq. ft.) home, designed so that it does not disturb a single tree (or monkey).
